Blockbusters Lose Late, 5-2
|
Los Angeles got a decent performance from pitcher Basil Anderson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Washington Eagles. Washington won the Blockbuster Stadium contest, 5-2. Anderson threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Miguel Jimenez, 2-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The defeat makes Los Angeles 30-32.
Washington used the timely hitting of George Kill to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eagles on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Kill.
