Starting pitcher Jon Pierce was a major factor in the 4-2 New York Empires triumph over the Baltimore Lords. Pierce, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Tom Duncan closed it out for New York, earning his 2nd save.
Earl Petersen had a direct impact on the outcome. Petersen contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 2-1.
