Knickerbockers Prevail, 4-2, Over Denver
|
Bob Langham pitched well, but his team, the Denver Burros, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium. Brian Williams, credited with the win in relief, is now 6-4. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. The win for the Knickerbockers raised their record to 37-26.
Had Dwayne Lamons not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Lamons hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Knickerbockers.
Lamons called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
