Industrials Knock Off Philadelphia, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Pittsburgh Industrials and the Philadelphia Quakers, Jeff Munoz was the X factor. The Pittsburgh right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. The winner was Munoz. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Juan Ramirez. The third-place Quakers dropped to 36-27.
The Industrials got a big at-bat from left fielder Don Keough. For the game, Keough was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Keough, "and today was a good one for us."
