Blockbusters Drop Traders, 5-2
|
Los Angeles pitcher Cardell Franklin did his part in helping his team defeat the Chicago Traders, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winner was Franklin. He threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Bobby Peters. Billy Duprey earned the save for Los Angeles, his 2nd of the year.
Los Angeles shortstop Paul Popeck contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Blockbusters ahead, 5-0.
Popeck said his team "played with determination."
The win gives Los Angeles a record of 5-3.
