Fonseca Shuts Out Washington, 1-0
The Washington Eagles were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Cincinnati Packers and hurler Alex Fonseca. Fonseca kept the Eagles confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Fonseca," Washington manager Brandon Tucker said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 32-year-old left-hander had 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Fonseca said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Fonseca has posted a 4-8 record for the year with a 3.41 ERA. Teams are hitting .254 against him and he has rung up 69 strikeouts in 108.1 innings.
