Emeralds Best Terriers in Pitching Duel
|
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Art Curry, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Emeralds. Seattle won the Atlantic Avenue Grounds contest, 2-1. Curry threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. With the win, the Emeralds have a record of 24-40.
Ron Ferguson, the 24-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Ferguson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Seattle up, 2-1.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Boston manager Tom Lacher, "let me know."
