Quakers Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Philadelphia Quakers beat the Cleveland Bobcats, 3-2. Philadelphia pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Fred Harrison led the way. Bill Smith was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 4 save opportunities. The win gives Philadelphia a season record of 37-27.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of John Linden to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Quakers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Linden said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
