Knickerbockers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Captains
Bob Underwood left his imprint on the 7-4 New York win against the San Diego Captains. Underwood, who finished 4th in the NBL in wins above replacement with 7.4 in 1973, went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New York now has a record of 33-33 with the win.

Underwood had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 0-1 sinker from Brian Meade, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Knickerbockers a 7-4 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Underwood.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Underwood. "And not try to do too much."
