Eagles Capture Close Win
|
The Washington Eagles finished things off in style.
The Washington Eagles topped the Pittsburgh Industrials, 9-8, in National Baseball League action at Monument Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Washington shortstop Gary Long. Washington reliever Bob Viola picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. John Fagan was tagged with the loss.
Vince Marshall was the walk-off hero for Washington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Eagles pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Marshall said.
Washington is now 24-41. Pittsburgh is 39-29.
