Seattle Shut Out, 3-0, By Empires, Stanford
|
In a remarkable performance, New York Empires starter Larry Stanford beat the Seattle Emeralds, 3-0, in an impressive 5-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Empires hurler finished with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Seattle manager Mark Velez said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
So far this season, Stanford has a 9-3 record with a 2.64 ERA.
