Pobladores Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
The Los Angeles Pobladores, despite a fine performance by New York pitcher Nate Frampton, grabbed a 1-0 win at San Vicente Park. Frampton allowed 1 run over 8 innings. Leon Fairley collected save number 10. Los Angeles is now 35-33, New York 38-30.
The Pobladores got a big boost from left fielder Paul McCarthy who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning off Empires hurler Nate Frampton. It was his 23rd RBI of the season and put Los Angeles on top, 1-0.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," McCarthy told the Los Angeles Times.
