Eagles Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Bobcats, 3-1
|
Arnold Jarry never let Cleveland get something going. The Washington left-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Eagles to a 3-1 win. Tom McAteer, 5-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The 6th-place Eagles raised their record to 31-37.
Washington used the timely hitting of Steve Price to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eagles on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Price.
