The Detroit Wolverines topped the Montreal Habitants, 9-4, with second baseman Bill Taylor playing a big role. Taylor went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk for the Wolverines in the win. The Wolverines are now 36-30, while the Habitants fall to 35-32.

The Wolverines got a big hit from catcher Bob Gilley. Facing Montreal pitcher Mark Weeks in the bottom of the sixth, Gilley pounded a bases-clearing double to left. His 8th double of the season put the Wolverines ahead, 7-0.

Detroit manager Alex Wobbema was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
