Industrials Edge Past Quakers, 2-1
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials beat the Philadelphia Quakers, 2-1, at Quakers Stadium. Starting pitcher Roger Long was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Dan Manney notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Philadelphia now has a 5-game losing streak.
Willie Cooper, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cooper contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-1.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Long.
