San Francisco Beats New York, 7-5
The San Francisco Seagulls beat the New York Empires, 7-5, at Mission Field. The Seagulls got a fine performance from left fielder Bobby Tapia, who was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. San Francisco goes to 44-24. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.

Tapia contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped San Francisco get the win.

"The team always comes first," Tapia told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
