Pobladores Score Late to Nip Terriers, 2-1
|
The Los Angeles Pobladores, behind a great outing from Bob Powell, who is tied for 6th in the ABL in complete games with 3, defeated the Boston Terriers, 2-1, at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. Powell, now 3-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Los Angeles is now 25-44, Boston 26-42.
Darrell Martin, who is a four-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Martin contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Pobladores manager Kurt Peterson, "I like our chances."
