Emeralds Get Dramatic 5-4 Triumph
The Chicago Hawks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kevin Edwards into a win. Instead, the Seattle Emeralds prevailed, 5-4, in 13 innings. Edwards threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Carroll Reynolds earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-3. The 4th-place Emeralds are 37-31.

The Emeralds got a clutch hit from catcher Al Link. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Emeralds.

"Games like this is what baseball's all about," said Emeralds manager Mark Velez.
