The St. Louis Explorers defeated the Chicago Traders, 5-2, at Union Field. St. Louis center fielder Ken Osterhage had a superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. St. Louis reliever Dave Maughan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bobby Peters took the loss. St. Louis is 32-39 and Chicago, with the loss, 31-39.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Gary Parker? The 29-year old right fielder Parker stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put St. Louis up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Osterhage.
