Dominant Performance by Vinueza in Washington Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Cincinnati Packers and Washington Eagles get after it.
Alberto Vinueza pitched a gem to lead Washington to victory over the Cincinnati Packers, 5-1. Cincinnati now is 3-4.
Vinueza's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 9 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 3 hits. Vinueza, the 2nd overall pick in the 1960 draft, goes to 1-1 on the year with 15 strikeouts.
Vinueza told the Washington News: "I think I thrive on conflict. It brings out my best."
