Baird Silences Cincinnati Bats
The Cleveland Bobcats and Cincinnati Packers played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

Myron Baird, who finished 3rd in the NBL in wins with 19 last year, imposed his will on the Packers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 Cleveland triumph. The save went to Mike Chernock, number 2 for him.

The Packers had trouble solving Baird, who surrendered 1 run on 2 hits over 8 innings.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Baird. "Successful pitchers do it."

Cleveland is now 39-32.
