Emeralds Edge Hawks, 4-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Seattle Emeralds and Chicago Hawks.
The Chicago Hawks got a sterling performance from pitcher Bruce Elsner, but the Seattle Emeralds still prevailed, 4-3. Elsner threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball. Leon Finkel, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Roberto Salazar, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1968 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Salazar contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Seattle up, 4-3.
"I was a little disappointed," said Chicago manager Mike Flaherty. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The current losing streak for Chicago has reached 4 games.
