1-0 Loss to Bobcats Extends Philadelphia Losing Streak
|
Quakers Stadium was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Manny Salinas could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Philadelphia Quakers lost, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Cleveland Bobcats at Quakers Stadium. Fred Harrison, the winner, goes to 7-4. He allowed no runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts over 6 innings. Matt Rutledge was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 16 save opportunities.
Cleveland used a well-timed hit by Tom Crowell to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bobcats ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Cleveland skipper Daniel Mays.
The current losing streak for Philadelphia has reached 8 games.
