John Gaylord Hurt, Out for Year
Tuesday, May 25th , 1965
The St. Louis Explorers and their fans were rocked today by the news that star closer John Gaylord would miss the rest of the season due to injury. Gaylord was hurt in a recent game against the Cincinnati Packers while throwing a pitch. He was immediately removed from the game and taken for examination. Tests today revealed the injury was bone chips in his elbow. His doctors think that Gaylord will miss about 7-8 months.

This season Gaylord has picked up 1 save and a 1-1 mark with a 1.54 ERA. He has made 8 relief appearances, thrown 11.2 innings, walked 2 and struck out 11.
