Cobley Joins Greats in MLB Hall of Fame Tuesday, March 1st , 1977 Al Cobley, a standout second baseman throughout his Major League Baseball career, has been inducted into the Hall of Fame in his 0 attempt. During the induction ceremony, he credited the coaches who taught him to play the game and the teammates who taught him to be a professional. However, the most important influence, Cobley said, was his father. "Pops never gave up on me," he said, "no matter how often I felt like giving up on myself. In his 1932-game career, Cobley hit .308 with 1822 hits, 261 home runs, 1068 runs scored and 965 RBIs. He wrapped up his career at the age of 43 and retired, hanging up his cleats in 1965. |
