Philadelphia, Toronto Finalize Trade Monday, March 14th , 1977 In an effort to add some depth to its roster, the Philadelphia Quakers have swapped 20-year old RHP Keith Carpenter, 20-year old LF Gary Rios, and 28-year old SS Vern Friend to the Toronto Hurons for 24-year old 2B Gary Neyland. The Quakers GM told reporters, "We saw a chance to upgrade our ball club and took it." Neyland is hitting .210 during his 176-game career. He has 79 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 40 RBIs, 5 stolen bases and 35 runs scored. |
