Captains LF Barnes Gets the Cycle
Thursday, April 24th , 1975
Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Randy Barnes's day was a special one.

The left fielder hit for the cycle to spark the 6-2 San Diego Captains victory over the Los Angeles Blockbusters at Blockbuster Stadium. San Diego manager Joe Mack said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Barnes in particular.

"Randy caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."

For the day, Barnes finished with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.

Randy Barnes singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Billy Duprey in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and tripled in the 7th.

So far this year, Barnes is batting .417 with 5 home runs.
