Setback for Pobladores and Ernie Backman Saturday, July 17th , 1965 Pobladores starting pitcher Ernie Backman has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation for a strained shoulder. He was expected to finish treatment soon and rejoin the team slightly ahead of schedule. Doctors reevaluated him after he felt severe pain in a recent workout. The preliminary examination revealed more damage and is worse than the first injury. Anonymous sources in Los Angeles told BNN Ernie Backman would be absent from the roster quite a bit longer than originally diagnosed. He would now have to miss at least 4 weeks. His record for the year is 5-0 in 13 starts and Backman has a 2.84 ERA. |
