Friday, May 28th , 1976
In a seemingly effortless performance, Ray McKenzie of the San Diego Captains shot down the St. Louis Explorers, 3-0, on 6 hits.
"Ray was just locating so well and using his pitches," San Diego manager Joe Mack said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
McKenzie recorded 4 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
