Houston's Campbell Injured, Out of Lineup Wednesday, May 18th , 1977 The Houston Drillers and their fans were rocked today by the news that star starting pitcher Andy Campbell would miss the rest of the season due to injury. Campbell was hurt in a recent game against the San Francisco Seagulls while throwing a pitch. He was immediately removed from the game and taken for examination. Tests today revealed the injury was a fractured elbow. His doctors think that Campbell will miss about 5-6 months. Campbell has made 9 starts this season, posting 3 wins and 3 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .270 against him and he has 24 strikeouts in 54.1 innings with a 4.47 ERA. |
