May's Best ABL Hurler is Pierce Wednesday, June 1st , 1977 When the Empires skipper wrote Pierce on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in May he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 1.62 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Empires star pitched 50 innings, fanned 30 and held opposing teams to a .211 average. For his excellent mound work Pierce was named the ABL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This season, Pierce has registered 9 wins and 1 loss in 11 starts with a 2.36 ERA. |
