Philadelphia Beats Denver as Hurley Throws 5-0 Shutout
Sunday, July 30th , 1967
In an outstanding mound performance, Philadelphia Quakers starter Jeff Hurley fired a complete-game shutout against the Denver Burros at Quakers Stadium today.

Hurley was the key to the Quakers's 5-0 win. The 22-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 2 hits and 2 walks he allowed.

"2 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."

This year Hurley has made 17 starts, thrown 133.1 innings, fanned 100 batters and walked 56. His won-lost record is 8-3 with a 1.96 ERA.
