Batkin Caps Great Week
Monday, July 31st , 1967
In the twilight of his career, 38-year-old Harold Batkin of Cleveland recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the National Baseball League Player of the Week Award.

"I've been playing since I was a kid," Batkin told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."

Batkin outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 3 home runs, and 6 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.

To date this season Batkin is hitting .360 with 14 home runs.
