St. Louis Snaps Hembree Streak at 21 Tuesday, June 10th , 1975 After 21 games, John Hembree had his hitting streak ended abruptly by the St. Louis Explorers at Roman Arena. The Cincinnati Packers catcher failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats, bringing his tenure in the national spotlight to a halt. Despite the tough day at the plate, Hembree seemed unconcerned after the game, talking instead about the Packers beating the Explorers, 2-1. "It was good while it lasted," Hembree said. "If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory." Thus far this year, Hembree has hit .312 with no home runs and 22 RBIs. |
