Coomes Befuddles Twin Cities in 4-0 Dallas Win
Friday, June 13th , 1975
The Twin Cities Northmen manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Dallas Wranglers. The Northmen were overpowered by Dallas starter Steve Coomes, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Jason Gudim said.

Over 9 innings, Coomes blanked Twin Cities on 5 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Coomes said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

This year, Coomes has fanned 53 in 92.1 innings and collected a 7-5 record with a 4.48 ERA.
