September's Best Rookie Honored by NBL Tuesday, October 1st, 1957 For a young man just making his way into the National Baseball League, Keith Nettles has shown incredible poise and confidence over the past month, netting him the coveted Rookie of the Month Award. In September he fashioned a 3-1 mark and a 3.47 ERA. The Philadelphia starter struck out 30 in 49.1 innings as he walked 17 and held opposing batters to a .244 average. This year Nettles has recorded a 9-11 mark. In 29 starts he has fanned 128 batters in 221 innings with a 3.91 ERA. |
