Farooqi Tosses Shutout Against Los Angeles Wednesday, June 23rd , 1976 The Los Angeles Pobladores were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Twin Cities Northmen and hurler Syed Farooqi. Farooqi kept the Pobladores confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Farooqi," Los Angeles manager Alex Wobbema said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 34-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Farooqi said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way." For the season, Farooqi has a record of 5 wins and 6 losses in 15 appearances.
