Switzer Fashions Shutout Against Twin Cities
Sunday, July 18th , 1976
In a seemingly effortless performance, Bill Switzer of the Houston Drillers shot down the Twin Cities Northmen, 2-0, on 4 hits.
"Bill was just locating so well and using his pitches," Houston manager Tom Harrington said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Switzer recorded 1 strikeout and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
To date this year, in 20 starts, Switzer has crafted a 9-5 mark with a 3.22 ERA.
