Cox Sizzles, San Diego Fizzles
Friday, June 7th , 1974
In a remarkable performance, Chicago Traders starter Larry Cox beat the San Diego Captains, 5-0, in an impressive 3-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Traders hurler finished with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," San Diego manager Joe Mack said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This year, Cox has compiled a 7-2 record with a 3.04 ERA.
