Switzer Shuts Out Seattle
Wednesday, July 28th , 1976
Houston Drillers starter Bill Switzer really did a number on the Seattle Emeralds, shutting them out, 1-0, on 2 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 2 walks and had 2 strikeouts.

"We didn't have good at-bats," said Seattle manager Mark Velez. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Switzer."

To date Switzer is 11-5 in 22 starts with a 3.14 ERA and has 70 strikeouts in 146.1 innings.
