King ABL Outstanding Batter of the Month Tuesday, September 1st , 1964 Ralph King received the American Baseball League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month. "He might be getting older," Los Angeles's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Ralph's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field." To win the honor King put up a .353 batting average, 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 21 times in August. Currently King has 26 home runs and a .324 batting average. |
