Stallings Bangs Out 6 Base Hits
Sunday, June 16th , 1974
The 6th time is the charm -- at least for Troy Stallings.
The first baseman for the Detroit Wolverines hit the milestone against the Atlanta Generals, helping his club to a narrow 8-7 victory. Stallings finished with a 6-for-7 line at the plate.
"Stallings was a tough out," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie told the press in the postgame interview. "If it weren't for him, I think we had this one."
Troy Stallings singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Frank Combs in the 5th, struck out in the 8th, hit an RBI triple in the 9th, singled in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
This season, Stallings has 8 home runs and a .250 batting average.
