Stallings Bangs Out 6 Base Hits Sunday, June 16th , 1974 The 6th time is the charm -- at least for Troy Stallings. The first baseman for the Detroit Wolverines hit the milestone against the Atlanta Generals, helping his club to a narrow 8-7 victory. Stallings finished with a 6-for-7 line at the plate. "Stallings was a tough out," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie told the press in the postgame interview. "If it weren't for him, I think we had this one." Troy Stallings singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Frank Combs in the 5th, struck out in the 8th, hit an RBI triple in the 9th, singled in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
