Vadnais: Big Hit in the National Baseball League Monday, June 17th , 1974 Philadelphia fans have something to crow about today as Philadelphia left fielder Jim Vadnais nabbed the National Baseball League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Vadnais. He posted a .667 average (12-for-18) this past week with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Vadnais is currently hitting at a .339 pace with 5 home runs and 29 RBIs. He has played in 46 games and scored 16 times. |
