Starting Pitcher Nabs ABL Rookie Award Sunday, August 1st , 1976 Monte Willis of the Detroit Wolverines dominated American Baseball League teams and had an award-winning month. He started 5 games and came away with 3 wins and the American Baseball League Rookie of the Month honors. Willis crafted a 3-1 record, worked 31 innings, allowed 25 base hits, struck out 19 and walked 11. Clubs combined to hit .210 against him in July. Over the season Willis has thrown 40 innings and dished out 23 strikeouts with a 4-1 mark and a 1.57 ERA. |
