Heath Stops New York Cold, 3-0
Friday, June 21st , 1974
San Diego Captains starter Ray Heath really did a number on the New York Knickerbockers, shutting them out, 3-0, on 5 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 1 walk and had 4 strikeouts.

"We didn't have good at-bats," said New York manager Timothy Widholm. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Heath."

Checking out his stats for the season, Heath has registered 9 wins and no losses in 16 starts, posted a 2.52 ERA, and struck out 67 batters in 121.2 innings.
