Pobladores Win League Championship Series Sunday, October 12th , 1958 Fans of the Toronto Hurons groaned when John Warlick stepped up to the plate in the League Championship Series. And for good reason too, as the Los Angeles Pobladores player was instrumental in guiding his team to a 4-1 series win over the Hurons. The series was clinched tonight at Toronto Park, with Los Angeles coming out on top 7-6 in the deciding game. Warlick's strong series included a .750 batting average, with a .778 on-base percentage.
