Sledd Extends Hit Streak to 20 Games
Sunday, July 14th , 1974
John Sledd ran his hitting streak to 20 straight games at Union Field, when he collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats. The feat came, however, as the Chicago Traders dropped the game, 4-3, to the Los Angeles Blockbusters.

"Hey, the streak is great -- I hope it never ends," Sledd said later. "But I'm not happy to lose the game."
John Sledd singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 10th.

This year, Sledd is batting .329 with 112 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 38 times and has batted in 51 runs.
