Denver, St. Louis Deal Made
Wednesday, July 31st , 1974
BNN has learned the Denver Burros have reportedly worked out a deal with the St. Louis Explorers. Sources close to the Burros indicated that a trade has been reached in principle where 22-year old RHP Jim Thurlow and a 1st round draft pick will be swapped to Denver with 24-year old LHP Rick Morton and a 2nd round draft pick heading to St. Louis. Neither organization would comment on the report, saying it was club policy not to speak about a trade until it was finalized.
To date this year, Morton has fashioned a 3.07 ERA over 44 innings with a 6-4 record. He has made 39 relief appearances with 25 strikeouts and 4 saves.
This year, his season stats show Thurlow has no saves in 9 relief appearances with a 1-4 record and 7.04 ERA.
