Barnes, Houston Sign 4-Year Pact
Saturday, September 11th , 1976
Happy times in Houston as the Drillers and star left fielder Randy Barnes put the finishing touches on a $2,602,000 contract extension that will keep the 32-year-old in town 4 years longer.

The signing is great news for Houston because players of this caliber are hard to come by.

So far this season, Barnes is batting .295 with 11 home runs, 65 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He has 157 hits in 532 at-bats, 51 walks and a .359 OBP. Barnes has played in 143 games.
