Seattle Shut Out by Coomes
Wednesday, September 15th , 1976
Dallas Wranglers starter Steve Coomes really did a number on the Seattle Emeralds, shutting them out, 1-0, on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 10 strikeouts.

"We didn't have good at-bats," said Seattle manager Mark Velez. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Coomes."

Up to now Coomes has recorded a record of 13-13. In 32 starts he has fanned 117 batters in 217.2 innings with a 3.72 ERA.
