ABL Names Best Player Monday, August 5th , 1974 When it came to hitting the baseball, Paul McCarthy was in a class by himself in the American Baseball League this past week. Nobody did it better. The outstanding left fielder for Los Angeles tagged opposing pitchers for a .448 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award.
